The Team Behind Joe's Golf Classic

Stan Clark Companies once again showcased its unwavering dedication to community well-being through its annual event, Joe’s United Way Golf Classic, held on Friday, May 31 in Perkins. Under the stewardship of its owner, Stan Clark, and the ongoing dedication of its Director of Public Relations, Kendra Burtrum, the company has been a pillar of support for the United Way of Payne County (UWPC) for over four decades.

For 17 years, Burtrum has orchestrated every facet of this golf tournament.  From networking with sponsors and curating items for public online auctions to arranging unique mini-events along the golf course, Burtrum has worked with both her Stan Clark Companies team and the United Way committee to ensure an enjoyable experience for all.

"For me, coordinating the golf tournament is an incredibly rewarding experience," said Burtrum. "With the support of our outstanding team, we successfully execute this event, and it's gratifying to know that our efforts directly benefit 23 agencies dedicated to helping those in need throughout our county."

This year’s golf benefit, hosted at Cimarron Trails, saw teams of four partake in the festivities and enjoy a day of golf and prizes, including a chance to win $25,000 toward a new car.

Beyond the entertainment and prizes, Joe’s Golf serves a more profound purpose - it has evolved into a cherished tradition for the United Way of Payne County, fostering community engagement and raising awareness about its mission.

Year after year, UWPC reviews the changing needs of its community, empowering businesses, organizations, and individuals alike with the motivation and resources to address these needs. It presents an opportunity for all in Payne County to contribute towards addressing child abuse, homelessness, financial security, literacy and more.

In addition to the annual golf classic, Burtrum and Stan Clark Companies also spearhead the orchestration and sponsorship of the Juke Joint Jog, a beloved community event spanning over 30 years. Scheduled for October 12 this year, it stands as one of the many fundraising initiatives planned to further support UWPC’s cause.

“Stan Clark Companies' enduring commitment to corporate social responsibility stands as a shining example,” said UWPC Executive Director, Ruth Cavins. “Their efforts display the power of collaboration and community spirit in effecting positive change. We are extremely grateful.”
